Program Information
The Associate of Arts degree cultivates in students the habit of life-long learning through a diverse curriculum and teaches students to think critically and creatively about their perceptions of ideas, events and people. This degree is designed to position the student for successful employment, career advancement or more focused study in Communication at the baccalaureate level.

Bachelor Degree Program
Students earning an Associate of Arts - Communication Option can “step up” to the Bachelor of Arts in Communication or many other degrees offered at The University of Akron. Meet with your academic advisor to discuss all the options.
Transfer to the College of Applied Science and Technology
To be admitted to the College of Applied Science and Technology, a student must have a GPA of 2.0. A student can complete the transfer process through an appointment with an Academic Advisor in the college in which they reside.
The following information has official approval of the Department of Applied General and Technical Studies and The College of Applied Science and Technology, but is intended only as a supplemental guide. Official degree requirements are established at the time of transfer and admission to the degree-granting college. Students should refer to the Degree Progress Report (DPR) which is definitive for graduation requirements. Completion of this degree within the identified time frame below is contingent upon many factors, including but not limited to: class availability, total number of required credits, work schedule, finances, family, course drops/withdrawals, successfully passing courses, prerequisites, among others. The transfer process is completed through an appointment with your academic advisor. Transfer students should consult their Advisor to identify courses that are equivalent.

If you take a 4 credit mathematics course, then you may choose any Domestic Diversity course, including 7600:325 Intercultural Communication, which also counts as a Communication Elective Course in the Communication Option. |
