Graduate Addiction Certificate
The Graduate Addictions Certificate is designed for graduate students and practitioners interested in working with persons struggling with substance use disorders. It allows a pathway to clinical licensure for multiple behavioral-health-related majors, including, but not limited to, social work, counseling, psychology, nursing, public health, and sociology. The certificate involves four MSW Addictions Courses. Together, they meet the 180 hours of prescribed education content for the Ohio Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC). The courses are all offered in an online asynchronous format, in the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Students can complete the certificate in two semesters.
The course content is informed by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board’s (OCDPB) licensing requirements (www.ocdp.ohio.gov) and the course competencies defined by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) www.samhsa.gov.
The OCDPB is a member of the International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC). IC&RC develops examinations, sets credentialing standards, and facilitates interstate reciprocity for certified/licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors. OCDPB provided licenses can be reciprocal to other IC&RC states. https://internationalcredentialing.org/reciprocity-international-certificates/
