Minor in Classical Studies (320003M)
Classical studies focus on ancient Greece and Rome's culture, history, literature, and language. Classical civilization minors develop critical thinking skills through an interdisciplinary exploration (i.e., textual and material culture perspectives) of the Greek and Roman worlds and their modern legacy, including mythology, sports, politics, gender perspectives, philosophy, and artistic production.
The following information has official approval of The Department of History and The Buchtel College of Arts & Sciences, but is intended only as a guide. Completion of this minor is contingent upon many factors, including but not limited to: class availability, total number of required credits, work schedule, finances, family, course drops/withdrawals, successfully passing courses, prerequisites, among others.
The following courses constitute a “Minor in Classical Studies” and must be completed with a minimum grade point average of 2.0 overall for the minor to be noted on the student’s record. At least 6 credits must be at the 300/400 level. Please refer to the University Requirements for Minor Areas of Study for specific graduation information regarding minors.
